Juliet at the media preview for City Alive!

Chingay Blog  3 – Asia’s Grandest Street and Floats Parade
29th Jan 2009 – Media Accreditation for Chingay and media preview for City Alive!

It is one day before the official opening of Chingay, what’s up next?
Collecting my media pass!

We had a media accreditation event at People’s Association’s The M.A.D Studios today at 5.30pm.

After a heart warming welcome speech to give us a better understanding of what to expect from the event tomorrow, I can say that the organisers are really doing a great job.

As part of the media covering the parade, everything related to the event is well-taken care of from scratch. Good job from the People’s Association (PA) and People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM)!

While we eagerly queued up for our long-awaited Media Pass (The ‘golden ticket’ that will let us enjoy lots of ‘exclusive’ privileges at Chingay), I happily helped myself to the sumptuous buffet that they prepared for us.

Food Glorious Food

Yippee ! Finally,  I got my Media Pass.

After being bestowed this ‘media power’, I couldn’t wait to get my camera rolling.

This time, we were covering the Chingay International Groups’ rehearsal. This year, Chingay presents six international groups from China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, India and Indonesia, with groups that have never appeared in Chingay before. Here are some of the snapshots and videos taken then:

Don’t take your eyes of these video clips:

Kudos to the performers from India

The performers from the international groups were really nice people. When asked to take photographs, they happily obliged and put on their fantastic smiles…say cheese!

Pole dancing anyone?

Wow, after this main course of splendid performances, we bloggers were treated to another round of entertainment at another venue.

A private mini bus drove us to Vivocity where the Topshop/Topman outlet had been transformed into a musical playground as DJ Sassy Pandez dished out deep Hip Hop/R&B grooves from within a window display!

Looking at her pose, no wonder Saasy Pandez is an international model

With great entertainment, there is sure to be good food around.

Besides getting to enjoy cool and refreshing Tiger Beer again (Tiger Beer is one of the supporters for City Alive!), there were also waiters going around serving the guests with delicious finger food.

It is Tiger Time

The cool bloggers & the handsome host, Oli Pettigrew

Wonderful showcase performance, good food and drinks, freebies like a Topman notebook and keychain…what other ‘exclusive’ privileges out there ?

15 % discount off all items inclusive of sales items at Topshop exclusively for today only!

I really couldn’t believe it! Being a bargain shopper myself, how could I go home empty handed? I bought myself two purple tops on sale (original price: $136) and I bought them at only $57.80.

Such an exciting line-up of performances by 3800 local and international performers, 13 colourful, glittering and beautiful signature floats and the explosion of colours, joyous noise of cymbals, drums and voices!

Without forgetting the non-stop heart-pumping music from the City Alive!, Singapore’s biggest street dance party, I can’t wait to blog about Chingay and share the memorable experience with my local and overseas friends.
