To the shock of several motorists, these students from a school in Pasir Ris were seen dashing across the road though the light was not in their favour, thereby creating a near-accident in the process.
Zul was fuming mad at their lack of consideration.
In the email sent to STOMP today (Sep 25), the STOMPer says:
"These days students are getting out of hand. This picture was taken, after a near accident at the junction of White Sands Shopping Centre Traffic lights, Pasir Ris MRT, where traffic is always heavy.
"The light was in the drivers' favour, yet this group of students (about 10 of them) dashed diagonally across the traffic lights junctions, disregarding oncoming traffic while playfully laughing away as we jammed our emergency brakes to avoid running over them.
"They were not even using the pedestrian walkway, but instead, were running and crossing into the junction box , taking their own sweet time...
"Some were even using their mobile phones disregarding the traffic.
"From the picture you can see one of the last few girls, still crossing the yellow box.
"The traffic lights shows that pedestrians are not allowed to cross, but they just ignored it.
"These students were misbehaving and jaywalking imposing dangers to themselves and others on the public street.
"I hope the relevant authorities can do something about this situation."
